Privacy notice (draft)
This is a draft for review. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must not be treated as legally compliant. Facial images can be biometric data under UK GDPR; get qualified legal advice before launch.
Photos you upload
Your photo is sent to our search provider to run your search and is held in memory only while the request is processed. FaceWatch does not save uploaded photos.
What we store
- Your email address and plan details (to run your account and billing).
- Your search history: result links, scores, site names and thumbnail links returned by the provider. Your uploaded photo is never saved.
- A random browser identifier cookie (fw_vid) so visitors can search without an account, keep their free-search count, and keep their results if they later sign up.
- Reports and removal requests you send us.
- Technical records needed to prevent abuse, such as rate-limit counters based on a hashed network address.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. FaceWatch does not see or store card numbers.
Third parties
The search provider (currently the Face Search API, reached through APIHub, or FaceCheck.ID, depending on configuration) processes the photo to return results. Their handling of the photo is governed by their own terms. Hosting, database and email providers process account data for us.
Your choices
- Delete individual searches or your whole history from the dashboard.
- Delete your account and associated data from the dashboard.
- Ask for an image to be removed or report misuse using the report form.
Retention
History is kept until you delete it. Searches made without an account are tied to your browser cookie and can be removed by clearing it and sending us a request. Deleting your account removes your user record and history.
